WHAT IS THE HEALTH MINISTRY TEAM?


The purpose of the Health Ministry Team is to provide assistance to our faith community in attaining wellness of body, mind and spirit.  Caring for one another and the larger community has been traditionally a ministry of the church.


WHO IS A HEALTH MINISTER?


You do not have to be a health care professional to be on the Health Ministry Team.  Presently, the members of the team are health professionals and lay people who recognize the importance that holistic heath entails wellness of body, mind and spirit.  Anyone interested in the concept of holistic health are joyfully encouraged to join the Health Team.


HOW DO THE PARISH NURSES FIT INTO THE HEALTH MINISTRY TEAM?


Parish Nurses are members of the Health Ministry Team.  They work with the members of the health ministry team in carrying out the team's activities.


WHAT ARE SOME OF THE ACTIVITIES OF THE HEALTH MINISTRY TEAM?


1. Yearly Health Fairs

2. Monthly Blood Pressure Screening

3. CPR classes

4. Blood drives

5. Promoting health-related educational events


WHO DO I CONTACT IF I WANT TO JOIN THE HEALTH MINISTRY?


The Health Ministry Team meets the first Thursday of every month at 7:30 pm in Room 210.  You can either come to a meeting or contact one of the Parish Nurses listed under the Parish Nurse information.


PARISH NURSES

WHAT IS A PARISH NURSE?


A Parish Nurse is a Registered Nurse who has completed a Basic Parish Nurse Class.  The Parish Nurse is an integral part of the broader concept of health ministries and works with the members of the Health Ministry Team in carrying out their goals.  Promoting the health of body, mind and spirit is a faith opportunity.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE ACTIVITIES OF THE PARISH NURSES?


* Health Educator

* Organizes monthly blood pressure screening

* Visits patients in hospitals, convalescent homes and private homes

* Organizes Health Fair

* Personal Health Counselor
