Sermon Description: Jeremiah sets down a simple comparison those that trust in mortals and their own strength as compared to those that trust in the Lord. The metaphor is instructive: those that trust in the Lord are a tree planted by a stream whose roots grow deep. Years of drought and plenty afflict the faithful as they do the faithless, but the faithful stay strong because the roots of our nourishment and stability provide what others lack. In this season of economic challenges, unemployment and inflation how do we grow in faith in spite of the challenges that surround us in the days of anxiety and even despair?
